In order to take the charm on and off your chain, you would just need a small pair of pliers or tweezers to detach/reattach the clasp. Here are a couple of quick how-to videos to show you how the clasp can be removed with and without tools: 

Then, you can simply pinch the last loop of the chain into an oval shape to slide the charm on/off.
